Is there a web site with all the needed info to do the ppu mod?
Damn search engine will not let me search any thing less than 4 character.  Ppu and nes will return an error.:P

What are the glitches people talk about?
I dont care if the colors are not 100%.
They dont look that off to me from pics I saw.
I just hate pixel crawl :P
Right now I run my nes to the composite input on my xrbg2 plus then to my hd tvs vga port..
This helps the video a bit and removes the lag with interlaced video on most hd tvs.
But the ugly pixel crawl shows its face but not as bad.

This mod sounds worthy to me.

All my other systems genesis, duo, neo-geo, super grafx  and  super nova use the the rgb port on the  xrgb2+ . I love how they look.

Any news if any nes clones that output rgb?
That would be the next option.
I wrote http://www.playmessiah.com asking them if they would consider including irgb output on their nes clone.

I am trying to do this mod.  Heh, I fried my first spare NES so I am in the process of obtaining another one.   (I don't want to risk my good system)

Anyways, all the info I've been able to find so far has been on this board:

I had actually considered writing Messiah once I found out they are working on an NES clone.  Not that they are the first ones to do it, but they seem to be more dedicated to creating the ultimate retro gaming exprience, so if anyone would consider manufacturing an RGB NES clone they would probably be the ones.  Their controllers look promising, but I haven't tried them out yet.  I'm still thinking about picking some up.

Anyone that wants a rgb nes should write Messiah.
There may be time for them to include this before mass marketing them. May be they can make a limited edition for like $100 with better video out.

This an other option.
just change the bios in the play choice 10 to play retail nes games.

I say this every time this mod is brought up:<opinion> DO NOT hack up a very RARE arcade board for the sake of getting rgb out of your 256 x 240 resolution NES. If you want rgb that bad, emulate the NES on dreamcast or set it up on a pc.

forgive my broked english, for I am an AMERICAN

heck the xbox is teh romz system of choice ;)

but i like to play on the real system.
to get an eprom flash it and put it in a play choice 10 will not hurt anything. that seems like a better option for me than the nes mod its self.
i guess though it is only good if you have a super gun. is the play choice 10 jamma?

PC10 PCBs aren't rare, Atom.  $25 each or so on ebay, and there's almost never a shortage of units to buy.  And consider that there are more rare games for the Famicom/NES, and it starts to become a good idea.

Computolio

$25 says the Messiah is a single-chip Famiclone.

   Who's with me?

NFG

Of course it is.  Who would think otherwise?

RGB output is not possibly with any famiclone. Actually, doing this modification is quite simple if you have the right tools. Use a desoldering iron and desolder the original PPU, solder in a socket and popping in the PPU from a PC10 PCB. Pins 14, 15, and 16 are RGB, and are normally grounded. Seperate the pds from ground, connect them to an RGB amp or RGB to s-video converter and you are good to go.

Granted, I have a lot of electronics experience, but if you don't, then don't feel to confident, or you might damage your NES.
