I was considering replacing the nomad lcd with a more up to date quality lcd.  I think it would also help to replace the light with white led's to help battery life.  Any thoughts on this?

You would have to put a resistor in to stop the LED from burning out.
And youd need more than one to make the screen light evenly.
And remember youd need an LCD with the same resolution.

Where do you plan on getting one from?

i'm still looking into the lcd, i need to get some more info on the voltages too.  Is there no way to use a higher resolution lcd?

Theres no point in using a hier res LCD, plus the picture would shrink in size, unless you installed some sort of video chip that could strech the image or used a multi resolution LCD.. but that again is pointless.

Also, the nomad lcd uses rgb input. So you either have to find a rgb lcd or hack a normal lcd apart and find it's rgb input after the composite line enters the chroma decoder.
Here is my site, it has a few mods, mostly to do with portablization.
