I am trying to get the 8bitdo retro receiver for Genesis working.  This is the bluetooth version.  Right now I get some input only in street fighter using my 6 button adapter in the capcom stick modes but the inputs are off.  I read the 2.4 ghz controller works so I assumed the bluetooth receiver would as well.  I just ordered the 2.4ghz controller to test but you would think they would both have the same pinouts.  I don't mind making another adapter if it would make it so we could use any bluetooth controller.  Has anybody had any luck?

I haven't tried the Bluetooth version of the M30(Genesis controller by 8bitdo) but I use the 2.4ghz version with a simple adapter to play most games on X68000 and it works great.

I can confirm bluetooth doesn't work on my end as well

Which Adapter are you using?  I just got the m30 2.4g now and I am getting no response in games.  I have I made a 6 button and 3 button adapter from the schematics online and it works with other controllers.  Are you using something special?  In 2 button games I get no response and in Streetfighter trying the capcom stick modes I get input with the wrong controls just like the Bluetooth adapter.  I know my joystick port works because it works with even the cyberstick, fm towns controllers natively, and genesis sticks with the various 2 adapters I made.

Ah I just found this online.  Maybe it's a different pinout than the other genesis 3 and 6 button adapters.  https://bitchinbits.foolproofdesigns.com/2020/02/09/x68000-genesis-mega-drive-adapter/.  I have the parts to build this.  Will do today.  Maybe the bluetooth adapter will work after all because this is responding the same way that controller did.  That would make my day.

I use a cable I bought from misteraddons.com for 2 button games, but I checked the site so I could link it for you and it seems they no longer sell it..

I use this adapter for 6 button games which works and thankfully, it is still for sale:

There's also a 2 button variant of this cable but I haven't tried it. I would expect it to work, though.

I built this adapter this time that says it works with 8bit do m30 2.4ghz and x68000 and I have the same issue.  I tested the adapter  with the normal genesis 6 button pad and a genesis 6 button arcade stick and the mapping is slightly different but it works.  I wonder if 8bitdo changed something.  The problem I am having is the xyz buttons don't work and when I press up or down in streetfighter the character ducks or jumps and attacks from the single input.  The only difference between this and my old adapter is the following.

In street fighter 2 the genesis 6 button pad now has the correct mapping when set to normal and the arcade stick is mapped correctly when selecting normal capcom stick.  Not capcom-md.  The mappings are a little different but the dpads work correctly on both controllers.

I also tried holding the mode button on the 8bitdo pad which says it changes between 3 and 6 button mode.

As a note my bluetooth and 2.4ghz adapters are doing exactly the same thing.  I wonder if 8bitdo silently changed something.  i bought another brand bluetooth adapter on Ebay.  Should be here next week.

I got it working finally in 2 button mode.  I updated the 2.4g receiver to 3.02 firmware.  They don't list the dongle firmware on their website in any obvious place.  On a facebook forum somebody told me what version firmware they were using and when I saw their was a dongle firmware I look into it.  I found an old post online mentioning you can open the dongle with a torxs bit and find a micro usb port.  Now I'm running firmware 2.06 on the controller and 3.02 on the usb receiver.  Like I said I couldn't find this on the website and it probably wasn't meant to be user serviceable.  Hopefully this helps somebody one day because it drove me crazy.

Now it works fine using my 2 button dongle built without the switch.

Next week I'll try the blue retro bluetooth reciever and report back.
