Hey,
I've noticed in replying to a lot of topics it says:

Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days.
Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.

Being that most of this forum is pretty inactive, I think it would be nice to remove this. It has discouraged me in the past from posting, which I think is the opposite intention of the site. I feel like this made a lot of sense when the forum was more active but not so much now. What do you think?

I think if anyone wants to post something relevant, they should cheerfully ignore the warning.  I'm pretty sure I can change it, I'll have a look.

Good suggestion.

Update:  I changed the text to read:

QuoteHey! This topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days.
It's possible the participants have moved on.  But please feel free to continue the thread!

Do you think that strikes the right note, between hopeless despair because of the age of the internet and the death of forums, and hope for keeping the flame alive a little longer?  ;)

thats definitely better :) (the change isnt showing for me just yet..)
I think the most intimidating part is the color.  Red has the connotation of ERROR 404 kinda feel.  Blue, green, purple - cooler colors have a more calm, relaxed feel that is less alarming than the "i clicked something wrong!" feel I get with red.

I hope when you say that you mean, "i'll keep hosting this site until the sun explodes and termites rule the earth and play all of our video games" :D

Forums still have some gusto in them, and I think these things ebb and flow.  I post no tech knowledge or guides on any "social" media sites, so ppl gotta seek the good infos out through the "oldskool" forums (if they want to repair that Sega CD system, anyway) ^_^

Whups, dumbass error on my part.  It's changed now.  ^__^

And yeah, this server's here until the termite thing.  =D

Segasonicfan

any chance of changing it to a less jarring error-like color (something other than red)?  the text is much better now :)
