This is a multimedia themed disk image I have put together, that can be run on either a real X68000 or in an 68k emulator.



Misc Q&A 

Just what the hell can I do with this disk image?

Well.. a variety of things revolving around "multimedia" of course.. here's a short sample of what you can do:

Listen to MDX tunes and other music files like MID and MOD.

View image formats such as, Bitmap, JPEG plus PIC and MAG images.

Draw silly pictures.. while listening to MDX tunes!

Watch Cinepak videos.

And some misc stuff involving the interwebnetz (if you have the right hardware).



What file types can I play/view with this disk image?

With the programs included on this disk image, you can play or view the following file types:

Sound:
MDX, MID, MOD, AIFF, WAV, ADPCM.

Pictures:
PIC, MAG, BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG.

Video:
CPK (cinepak)

I've also included a few multimedia files other than the MDX music you can try out for demonstration purposes.

You can also add your own additional media files in advance by opening the disk image with
a program like Edit Disk and dragging them to there respective directories or your own custom directories. 



What are the hardware requirements for this disk image?

The minimum hardware requirements are:

Any X68000 with 2MB of ram, And a 1GB SCSI Hard Drive or SCSI Compact Flash/SD card adapter with a 1GB capacity card.

Though for the most optimal experience. I'd highly recommend a 16Mhz (XVI) machine with 4 to 6 megabytes of ram fitted.

For an X68k emulator, setting the processor speed to 35MHz and maxing the memory to 12MB will give you the best experience.

(early "alphas" of this image where tested on a real X68030 as well, but as my X'030 has died yet again and needs looking at, I haven't been able to test current versions of this disk image at all, in it's current state to make sure it boots and runs on an X'030)



How do I copy this disk image to a SCSI drive?

There is a method of transferring a HDS image to a physical SCSI drive, by using a program called WinImage.. but as it's been a while since I last did this.. I've forgotten how to do it.. Sorry :-/

(IF I mange to get another machine going that I can use to write to SCSI drives and one of my deceased X68k's resurrected.. *comic lack spare time not really permitting at the moment* I'll try this out again and update this section on how to do it)



Why are there no games included on this disk image?

There are number of games based disk images or ones that come with games, already out there for the X68000. And I fancied doing
something "different" that could show off what else the X68000 can do other than games.. anyway.. if you want games, go find either
Eidis's or SuperDeadite's disk image posts that are also on this forum.



How do I do this or that etc?

The READ ME directory within the DOCS directory contains a bunch of translated readme's and guides written by my self and other
members of the NFG games forums. you can also find the accompanying read me for this disk image in the READ ME directory as well.
