Hi All,

I just got an FM-Towns Marty in from Japan. Very cool console! My CD drive works great, but my floppy drive is having some issues. The first issue was that the drive belt was melted and ripped. I was able to replace this with an OEM belt and it fits/works great. However, the drive is still not reading disks - I can hear the drive motor spinning the disk, but it will not read. Does anyone have any tips of what to try next? I was going to start with a solder reflow on the FDD board, but any more specific direction would be great...

Thanks,
-BB

read head might be dirty or misaligned. most marty games don't even use the FDD. what do you have that needs the FDD?

Ah thanks, I'll take it apart a little further and see if I can clean it.

There's probably not many games I want to play that will even use it. Just sort of want to fix it on principle. I got 2 point and click games with the system that both come with / require floppies to even boot so it would be nice to at least test them to know they are working games.
