 Ladies and Gentleman,

Today I would like to introduce you to Project Unsubst. It is an attempt to hack games which require subst.x, or are in other ways tied to a specific directory or path, and make them independent. The benefit is that the game can be launched from anywhere, is no longer tied to a specific directory and will load slightly faster.

Right now there are two games:
New Zealand Story
Star Cruiser

Doesn't Y2 have this issue?

The version on the HDD image is broken due to security, so perhaps this issue could be resolved if the path is spoofed?

@eidis

Better to use "Ladies and Gentlemen" instead of "Gentleman". I am sure some female user are present.  ;)

Thanks again for your fine work!

Yeah forums dedicated to the über niche pursuits of Japanese retro gaming connoisseurs are absolutely brimming with members of the fairer sex.

The deuce I say, half the reason I joined was to use the place as a dating website. Strangely though, no bites so far, but you know when you find that mademoiselle X68000 user you've happened upon a keeper.

Hi RobIvy64, AnnaWu and Kamiboy !

The Y2 has proper protection. Removing plaintext A:\ and B:\ references will not do the trick because in this case there aren't any there.

AnnaWu and Kamiboy, Heeeeellllllp ! I know you have the knowledge to crack this game. Please show me the way.

 Here comes another fine release which I would like to dedicate to SuperDeadite.

Get ready for the cracked and unsubsted version of Racing Champ !

It will happily run on a stock 2MB machine in pure DOS.

All cracking was done by Delicious of Tokugawa Corporate Forums and he deserves all the praise for this release. If someone is registered there, please say hello from me and ask if he would like to give a helping hand with Y2 ;)

Sorry me boy, my coding skill set does not veer in that direction I fear. I have never done any cracking of any sort, it is all black magic to me. If you need any tools or games coded in pure C for vintage hardware with sufficient documentation, then I am your man, anything even smelling of assembly and I am out!
