Just managed to buy an phillips cm8833 monitor, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300272975926&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=020#ebayphotohosting because of the scart socket, and also the din socket.

So,will i be able to just plug in my rgb scart lead from my japanese mega drive and play,or will i have any problems with  the monitors sync connections ,as i understand  ,this monitor has a seperate h/v sync in both the 8 pin din and scart sockets.

I dunno.  Try wiring the sync from the megadrive into both the h and v pins.  My external encoder board has h and v seperate pins.  I found if I wired the sync from the megadrive into just one of those pins it would work...maybe my board's just cool like that though
