Hi, I read the guide http://www.gamesx.com/controldata/usbsatpad/index.shtml and it confused the hell out of me. I'm really inept in these kinds of things. I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to simplify it for me and tell what I need to buy, do, and whatever.

I'd also be willing to send a Sega Saturn controller and some money and have someone from here do it.

Since converters suck, PS2 and USB Saturn controllers are sold out, this is my only option. I really wanna play my shmups with precise movements. I really hope someone can help.

If you wanna do it the easy way.  Just buy a sega saturn pad and a "3 In 1 PC Joy Box" which is a sega saturn to pc adapter.  YOu can then play games on pc with a sega saturn pad.  The total of both shouldn't cost more than $50.  Thats if you don't own a sega saturn pad.  The adapter itself is less than $20 shipping and handling included.

if you want to use the pad on PC, there's DirectPadPro and ParalelPortJoystick. DPP has a Saturn to LPT support for sure, not so sure about PPJ (I use PPJ for MD pad)...

I would buy them. However, every single website I checked is sold out. Like I said this is my only option except...

I might try this. Thing is, I don't think my computer has an LPT port. The mother board is too new.

Alternately, you could go with a Playstation to USB converter daisy-chained to one of these:

I just ordered one of these adapters from Best SKU.  I don't know if it lets Playstation owners use Saturn controllers on their systems or vice versa, but for three dollars I was more than willing to take that risk.  I do have one of the purple Darkstalkers Saturn replica pads, but it's nice to have something to fall back on just in case.

If you're looking for something easy try Retrozone. They sells DIY kits for converting oldschool joysticks to USB, this includes SS controllers. Their kits are easy to install and you don't need to have great soldering skills either. I bought a few of atari and nes retrokits from them in the past and had no problems with lag. I highly recommend them.

Hope it's ok to reply an old post.

I am interested to try the Retrozone kit myself.  Just wonder if the USB would work on the PS2 USB port.  I notice that the USB port on PS2 is quite picky.

As far as I know, it's left to individual games to supply drivers for any supported USB devices, with many games not supplying a driver at all. If you are looking to use your saturn controller on a ps2, you would be much better off with an adapter that plugs directly into the ps2 controller port.

Ratikal, I sell saturn adapters if you want one... I also can do in pad usb wiring, but I never recommend that.  It only saves you few bucks  anyways. I dont talk price in the forums for etiquette reason so pm me if interested.

Supported on my usb adapter.
