Use NGC controllers on N64

As my N64 joypads are getting old, I have thought to use the better GCN controllers on the N64. Has anyone already tried this ? Can it be done ?

N64 pads are still widely available for little money. You just have to look away from your local EB once in a while. Modding a GC pad and all the woes that would come with it just isn't worth the hassle.
If you're that bored, go out and get some fresh air for an hour or two, I heartily recommend it.
