Anybody know off the top of their head if an Xbox will function correctly with no DVD drive attached? I'm slightly fearful of testing this out on my own, creaky launch unit. In a nutshell, I'm exploring the possibility that an Xbox with no DVD drive and a 2.5 inch laptop-spec hard drive could function in a tiny, tiny case. Perhaps attached to an LCD screen and a battery.

-KKC, who may soon have an extra Gamecube for no apparent reason. What would you do with an extra Gamecube?

If you flash an alternate BIOS to your Xbox it will function fine without a DVD drive. I ran my machine like this for months before getting a replacement DVD drive. Check out http://www.xbox-scene.com , all the info is there.

Enjoy.
