ok, the sync pin doesnt work as sync, and the composite video pin does.. whereas on my psx.. the composite video pin doesnt work as sync..

Yeah, I don't know what it's all about either.  I have a Sat RGB cable and it works fine on my monitor.  But when making custom cables, I had to be careful.  Sync worked fine on my Sega Master System, but not on the MegaDrive.  I had to switch the connection for the sync to composite video, which worked fine.  Also the GBA (Terebi de Advance)'s sync pin wouldn't work, but composite worked okay.  I suppose it depends on the tolerance of the monitor.
