I'm getting massive RF interference coming through my tv and just cannot get a stable picture, i've tried 2 different nes's and 2 different generic RF cables now to no luck.
Would getting one of those official RF cables (the ones with the areal output and the clunky grey box) sort my problem out?

Cheers.

Does your TV have a composite video input?  If it does, I would just use the A/V outputs on the side of the NES and bypass RF altogether.

RF blows the big one.. you'd be way better off to use the AV out. but if you are content on using RF, have you tried retuning your tv?

I didnt know there were 3rd party rf cables, lol but yeah they would probably work better. As mentioned the video out would be best.
forgive my broked english, for I am an AMERICAN

I know it sounds weird someone wanting to use RF when composite is available, but to be honest... here goes...

The tv i am using it on has no Composite input, only RF. I do have another Newer tv with all the modern inputs but the thing is the nes looks like utter SHIT on this tv - you can seriously count the pixels 1 by 1. It just looks better on the older tv believe it or not.

I will just try get a new RF box thingy off ebay - thanks.

uhh.. on a nes, you CAN count the pixils one by one.. it's oldskool, thats how things were.

I would say that it would be good to use a VCR instead of the nes RF switch and just plug in the composite video into the VCR, the VCR has a better RF modulator anyways, just make sure to have a good coax cable to connect the VCR to the tv and also that the 300 to 75 ohm converter is in good working order, if your tv requires one that is. after that it should be pretty clear for RF video. doing it this way also allows for you to hook up the audio to a stereo reciver.  ^_^

phreak97 - Not on this old tv you can't, it really does look decent!

Max Destiny - Yeah i had to resort to doing it that way and it looks ok.

Cheers.

yeah, i was going to suggest what Max Destiny said, i have a bunch of vcr's in the shed which dont play tapes anymore just to be used for turning monitors into tv's and they also used to be used with my big wooden tv, (i mean BIG.. it's a 68cm (~24-26".. i forget) and the casing adds like an extra foot to the right and a little more than a foot below the screen.. lol..) so i could play games without an rf cable.

that tv is huge, i dont use it anymore, but it was built really well.. i could stand on top no probs, i mean, not like "gotta be careful i dont put weight in any certain place" i mean, i used it as somewhere to stand when getting stuff off my wardrobe. you could easily put all your weight on it. and it had a flat top which went about 2' back, so it was great to chuck as many vcr's and dvd players on top as you had.. i had three vcr's and a dvd player on top at one point.. come to think of it, i have no idea why i had all those up there.. i only used two vcr's and the dvd player..

wow, my ramblings got longer than my post.
sorry about that
