Dreamcast mod for non MIL-CD systems?

A while ago I chanced across a mod for DC systems that don't boot CDR/W media, involving a simple wire soldered to the base of the PCB.  I didn't pay much attention to it, and now I'm looking for it.  Anyone see this, know anything, or is my memory playing tricks?
