I have a UK PAK NES console that does not power up. Absolutely no sign of life - the power light does not come on, nothing on screen, no hissing or fizzing, nothing.

The power supply is known to be good (tested with a SNES).

I've googled and found only guides on cleaning carts and repairing / replacing the 72 pin connector.

Is this a common problem? Are there any particular fuses I should check? Any good repair guides floating around?

All help appreciated.

Many thanks.

Your power supply should not fit an SNES. It would FRY IT!
It must be 3rd party, perhaps radio shack with a changeable tip?
The PCB where the power supply connects to is very hard to access. Your fuse is probably in there.

You can however rip out that entire PCB and put the power right into the mobo as seen in this HORRIBLE SCHEMATIC.

If he's using a PAL or JP SNES then the nes/famicom power supply is the same.  Only the North american model uses AC power.
