genesis2/md2 rgb encoder chip frequency?

the 50/60 mod doesnt give colour in 60 on a pal system, this is because the glue chip is all like wtf with the new speed. on the megadrive1 i managed (with help) to reproduce the frequency for the rgb encoder to output pal at all times. the md2 encoder is a different chip, and although afaik it has a very similar pinout if not the same, it requires a different frequency (i tried the crystal used in the md1 mod and got no colour).

does anyone out there know what frequency i need? or could someone use an oscilloscope on it or something? the clock goes into pin 6 by memory..
