A thought: Playing Mega Drive games on Mega-CD

I have been thinking about this for quite some time, I'm not much into the advanced programming and such, but anyway:

Might it somehow be possible to burn a Mega Drive ROM image to a CD and play it on the Mega-CD? It'd be interesting if it was somehow possible.
