Writing CF image question.

Silly question, but if I restore HDD image to say a 4gb CF card for use on a real computer, can I then simply run format.x, and then format the unused space on the card as additional blank partitions for other uses?

And how could I restore 2 images to the same card?  I'd like to have both the game image, and the music drive image on there at the same time.
