Hi all...I'm new here and I am really not very well informed on information like this...I am trying to turn the stock navigation in my 2004 Acura TSX into a DVD player.  There are rgb converters that convert any video signal into rgb, and that is spliced or plugged into the navigation unit.  However, these run anywhere from $150 (build your own) to $500 (plug and play).  I know that companies like lik-sang sell rgb cables for PS2, but the connection in SCART, I believe, and I'm not sure if it is a true RGB signal, or just diguised as a SCART connector.  Is there anyway to rip down this wire to JUST the R-G-B and SYNC signals, so that I can play it on my monitor?  I think I could probably get the signal straight from the PS2, but I really dont want to mess with that.  If I could just modify the cable...that would be ideal.  Would I hit any known snags, like the "Green Screen"?

1. If a cable says RGB SCART, it usually is.
2. The 'green screen' is what happens when you're stupid and don't read the f**king manual.  Enter settings menu, select RGB, wow!  It works!
3. Make a female SCART connector with the outputs you want and then you can use any off-the-shelf RGB cable from any console with your car's screen.

OK...you don't have to make me feel THAT stupid...

That really wasn't the info I was looking for...all I need is the pinout of the scart, and the voltages and specs for the Red, Green, Blue, and SYNC leads.  I think you may need to seperate the SYNC from composite so I need some advice on how to go about doing that.  
Making a female connector is a great idea though.

You managed to find the forums but not the gamesx.com page itself, I guess?  The SCART pinpout and the info on a sync seperator are both available on gamesx.com.  

As for the voltage info, there's a standard for RGB that consoles don't often veer away from, you shouldn't have to worry about this, just plug and play.

k...just a quick noob question about the LM1881...do I have to make a PC Board or other circuit board to do this?  I've never soldered before, but this seems like a simple project to learn on.

It would help if you could give me a list or link to all the parts I need...I know I need the 2 capacitors, 1 resistor, the LM1881 chip and some wires...is the PC board necessary?  Do I need a DIP socket??

Also, will the Red Green and blue grounds simply get connected to the red green and blue wires themselves?

You can use a chip socket or PCB if you like.  I don't, but many do.

Why would you attach Ground to anything but Ground?

ok....I can tap into the wires from the navigation "brain" to get a signal from the TV, but I need a way to switch b/w these two signals.  Will a relay work, or do I need some type of video switching device?

well....will a 4pdt relay work?  do you think there would be any interference from this?
