I finally did a writeup for a repair I did recently on a X68000 Compact that I got which was completely dead on startup. It required quite a bit of debugging with a logic analyzer to figure out which ways it was busted, and could be an interesting read for other sickos who also like to repair these things.

If you happen to figure out what's keeping 16mhz mode from working, please let us know.  Same problem on one of my XVIs, and I lack the knowledge to debug it like you.
