Me and my friend have been working on making our own vg console. We took an old motherboard from a windows 95 computer. I made a new (much smaller) power supply and modded an ATI radeon for video, (for tv use). It will take some SNES controllers, play snes\nes games, and will be dos based.

Heres the thing, i cant figure out what to do for a case. The motherboard is 8.5 x 11 and it would be easy if it was 4.5 inches high. My old apple II gs is put away but i think the dimensions would be right, but id never take apart that machine, it has sentimental value. I went to the pawn shop because i knew the guy had some, he told me he threw them all out last week!

Anyone have any ideas for a cool case? If not im gonna have to go with a plastic tote! haha
I want it to fit into an enterntainment center, the idea is to make a gaming console.

I'd go for a old CD-player case, they're flat inside and are easy to take apart in case you have to do some maintenance or something.
I use them for all kinds of AV stuff as they usually have a separate front panel and more importantly, they're free.  B)

Free really? Lol, at what store? Thats a good idea, i was thinking that or an old vcr, which i have neither.

Well any place which repairs AV stuff is a good place to start. They have loads of old cases and are usually just happy to see them go.

VCR cases are good too, they usually have those nice flaps in the front panel to hide all the ugly connectors. They just have too many screws for my lazy ass.  ;)

were taking a jigsaw to parts of a couple cases to make a small one that is just right. i have another question though, does anybody know of any harm to running a hard drive on its side?

That's how it came in most of my computers, it hasn't done any harm besides having windows 98 on them
