Scratch that what I said about BlueSCSIv2 being bad. I got to the root cause of the issue why my BlueSCSI PCBs were failing- I noticed the resistances in fuses were ridiculously high, somewhere around at least 60-100ohms while it should be flat or close to 0. I replaced the fuses and BlueSCSI is working again! For now...... Maybe I used fuses that are too weak? Oops...

This is what I used'

I thought 12V 750mA should be enough. Or maybe there is something else going on to make my BlueSCSI fail after about a month... I hope the rest of parts I bought are correct... I also have fixed 2.85V regulators now and I installed them now as opposed to adjustable ones. Let's see how my BlueSCSI does this time...

Congratulation caius, looks great!

I think I'll wait for an internal version that fits nicely in my Compact. The drives work ok most of the time but are on their last legs I think.

My ribbon cables are pretty knackered, so getting some shinny news ones would be a bonus :-)

Great work caius!

I recommend the BlueSCSI, one version hat is suitable for the tower model.
SCSI2SD used to be great, but they are way too expensive now, compared to BlueSCSI.

Quote from: TinaTurner on November 18, 2024, 04:28:42 AMshorting my 50 pin cables to about 10-15cm!
Thanks, will order one. Note that the Centronics one has no cable and also has the issue.

I know Centronics has direct connection, but noone has successfully tested that version.
Keep in mind that i built myself cables using a 50 pin idc cable, cutting it and cramping a centronics connector. I had issue "low voltage detected" with 25cm lenght (not always indeed, but most time) and good result with 10-15 cm.
But, did you try connecting it internally? i built an adaptor if you're interested: https://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=7445.0

Hi all,

Thanks for the guidance!

1. BlueSCSI v2 Centronics
This is 2023_10a, preassembled, no wifi (from one geek army)
No cable, directly connected in to x68000.

2. BlueSCSI v2 DB25
Preassembled, wifi, (from flamelily). This one 100% works as it's used on a capcom CPS3 arcade pcb to load up new games.
Using a 1m scsi cable.

3. BlueSCSI v2 Desktop
Preassembled, wifi, (from flamelily). This one 100% works as it's used on a capcom CPS3 arcade pcb to load up new games.
Using a 1m scsi cable.

BOOT: ROM $ED0100
HD_MAX: 0

Tried that and same issue.

Regarding the external power supply, use a 5V 2A (tablet charger)
Will try that! Can't find one around the house. Inly have 5v 1a.

shorting my 50 pin cables to about 10-15cm!
Thanks, will order one. Note that the Centronics one has no cable and also has the issue.

named my two .hda files from 00, not from 03

Is this my problem? I only have 1x image: incrediblehark's image and I've tried naming it
HD00_512.hds
HD10_512.hds
HD30_512.hds
HD00_512.hda
HD10_512.hda
HD30_512.hda

@TinaTurner i think your cables are too long, i had errors similar to yours before shorting my 50 pin cables to about 10-15cm!
And, i named my two .hda files from 00, not from 03, i agree with amazin in this!

@TinaTurner

This is the model you have, right?

https://shop.onegeekarmy.eu/index.php/product/bluescsi-v2-centronics-2/

https://jcm-1.com/product/bluescsi-v2-centronics-50/

These two apparently similar models have different hardware revisions.

The first one is: 2023_10a ( Belgium )

The second one is: 2024_03a ( USA/Canada )

Did you assemble it yourself or did you order it already assembled?

Model with WIFi or without?

Meanwhile try to set on switch.x:

BOOT: ROM $ED0100
HD_MAX: 0

Regarding the external power supply, use a 5V 2A (tablet charger)

Turn on X68000, and then connect the USB cable (remember that USB cables are NOT all the same), and reboot.

Try this.

I've tried all 3x types of bluescsi I have here and sadly all are the same:

1. BlueSCSI v2 Centronics
2. BlueSCSI v2 DB25
3. BlueSCSI v2 Desktop

So either
a) I've made a mistake in the steps (see post #64 above)

b) The new bluescsi firmware v2024.10.26 has a bug (has anyone else tried it?)

c) My X68000 has faulty hardware.

Quote from: aotta on November 17, 2024, 07:15:48 PMSome more details? it emulates both 0 and 1 floppy drives?

It emulates one drive at once. But if you connect on the same ribbon cable a second unit you can have double drive emulation. With the jumpers onboard you can set the emulator as Drive 0-1-2-3.On Compact models you can use the rear switch the set internal drives as 2-3 so you can set emulator(s) as 0-1 and play software that do require this configuration, on tower models you must open the case and change the internal drives to 2-3.Most of times having a working floppy drive (also if only set as 2 or 3) is vital to load Human OS and change some setting.
FLIP-FLOP emulates most of proprietary FDD signals (at least the vital ones), also the LED blinking function has been implemented (there is another LED that will blink when a floppy insertion is requested by the system)

Quote from: aotta on November 17, 2024, 07:15:48 PMConsidered the LCD position, it's only for external?

Yes, FLIP-FLOP emulator must be plugged to the external FDD connector (DB37 of tower models, MDR40 on Compact ones) thru an adapter I will provide. It can be powered from Joystick Port 2 thru a custom cable (provided).
I can design internal versions too but it will be not an plug&play solution, the case should be adapted (by cutting it, I guess). Then I would need each X68000 model in order to take measurements for the replacement.

Quote from: aotta on November 17, 2024, 07:15:48 PMDo you plan to share the project or you'll sell it? In case, prices and time for it?

For now it's a commercial l project but I don't exclude to open it in the future. It will be available in my stores in a couple of week.Price must be yet decided

Quote from: aotta on November 17, 2024, 07:15:48 PMCongrats for the work!

Thank you!

@TinaTurner I think the real question is: does anyone besides me have a bluescsi2 "centronics"?
My internal version (both mounted internal and external with adapter cable) works like a charme, so i'm afraid of an hardware incompatibility for the centronics version with our X68000. I suggest you to check with other flavour of BlueScsi2!
