SIG X68000 / Re: X68K CZ600 + Gotek =Total ...

None of these devices really support the X68000 because the computer doesn't have a standard floppy drive. It has extra signals (like eject disk) that regular FDD don't have and FlashFloppy don't support.

If you really want FDD support in your X68000, then FDX68 with FDD Drive Swapper+ is really your only option. If all you care about is installing the SCSI drivers into SRAM, FDX68 is all you'll need as that boot disk doesn't care to boot from drive ID 2/3 like many games do.

Hello, please can you help me figure out the things i need in order to put a Gotek on my x68K cz600, the gray model? I have never used one of these Gotek emulators and it's soo confusing to sort it out everything alone.
Please let me write you some details and questions:
I made the 34pin extension cable by googling on a japanese website. My cable has 3 connectors: the modified end with the male socket extension i made, then a regular middle one and a "twisted" at the end.

I bought a Gotek yesterday on amazon, the grey unit with digits (no screen or dial).
Does this work as-is? I tryed to put on a Fat32 usb stick a single floppy game in xdf but it does not work, the unit flashes and my x68k eject disks and resets.

I have read that you have to flash the Gotek with Hxc or Flash Floppy? the last one i think is free.
Am i using it wrong or do i have to flash the firmware in order this to work?

My final goal is, since both my drives are no longer working, autoboot the scsi driver with a gotek and then use another hdd/emulator thing to have games to play, unless i missi something else, i'm not really have knowledge in this.

I hope you can help me figure it out. Thanks you

thanks both guys, my Pro II came with already a 1+1 mb so to be ready to update it, then I bought a 2mb ram board for a total of 4mb. Anyway it was just a curiosity since I know that 10mb total is actually enough for any game all around. I'll sell this 2mb ram board for those you might need more ram on their "baby".

Cheers

Just to confirm, you have a 1mb ram expansion in the dedicated slot? Since the Pro models bizarrely only come with 1mb from the factory and most memory expansions only address higher than 2mb we need to clarify this.

I have a Pro that maxes out at 10mb, I found out from neko68k that older models have an ipl bug that doesn't allow for more ram than that. Not sure what the pro ii supports but you might be at max capacity without using a custom bios.

I'm also not sure how the edu arana board addresses ram, but if it assumes 2mb installed then it might not work right with 4 anyway. I don't think you'll be missing out on much with the 10mb.

Hi mates,

I own a Pro II with already an expansion 2mb ram board for a total of 4mb that I removed to fit in successfully the  Edu Arana 8 mb ram board (which I actually suggest you buying if you need more ram).
So my total currently is 10mb Now, my doubt is: I followed Edu's tip so not to cause any conflict with 2 ram boards installed but maybe some of you out there had just experienced that and can confirm me that the choice to leave one out is really wise. Since I do not want to cause any damage or mulfunction to my little baby, I will be waiting for your good opinion. It's just splitting hairs and I am happy this way but never say never if it's possibile I will go for a total of 12mb adding my former 2mb ram board.
Thanks in advance to everybody
Cheers

Apropos newlib. In my attempts to try and build the updated Lydux toolchain for Windows I found out I had found and made some simple fixes for libdos here: https://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=6002.0

A file with updated libdos files are attached in that thread. You may want to take gander and perhaps include them in your version  Federico.

Hi all, this weekend I built a Midiori ver 1.1. I tested it on my x68K computer but it wasn't detected. Do I need to program anything to the components? I wonder if it's because some components not soldered properly or I used the incorrect components. I attached list of components that I used. The capacitor value that I used was 0.1uF (I assumed u1 is 0.1uF). Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Nice! I'll be bringing my machine to VCF MidWest this September along with a number of other interesting systems. I don't have the original matching monitor but I will have it paired up with an NEC MultiSync 3D CRT and external MIDI synth for the full authentic experience.
