We've all run into this problem time and time again: When we need to build an RGB cable for something, finding the necessary connectors is a bitch and a half. Here's a listing of a few odball connectors and where to order them:

   DB-23
Used for: the Amiga video connector (also the external floppy port)
   Vendors: IEC.NET
   Female connector: http://www.connectworld.net/cgi-bin/iec/DB23FS?wSFvXyN7;;5
   Male connector: http://www.connectworld.net/cgi-bin/iec/DB23MS?wSFvXyN7;;7
   Housing: http://www.iec.net/db23h.html

   DIN-13
Used for: the Atari ST video connector
   Vendors: Digi-Key, IEC.NET
   Male connector + housing: http://www.digikey.com/scripts/dksearch/dk...=SD-130&site=us

   DB-19
Used for: the Atari Falcon video connector (also Mac/Apple ][ external floppy drives)
   Vendors: IEC.NET
   Female connector: http://www.iec.net/db19fs.html
   Male connector: http://www.iec.net/db19ms.html
   Housing: http://www.iec.net/db19h.html

   MiniDIN-9
Used for: the revision 2 Genesis video port
   Vendors: Digi-Key
   Male connector + housing: http://www.digikey.com/scripts/dksearch/dk...t=MD-90&site=us
   Pins: http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dk...US&Cat=32178826

I noticed that this might go better on the wiki, but before I put it there I'd like to expand it first, preferably with links to where complete cables can be ordered as well as parts.

I think the wiki would definitely be a better place for it, but I do like the idea, regardless of placement.

Don't know if this is the right place to ask for this but I can't seem to find S-Video connectors anywhere. Tried local electronic part suplliers and online distributors I know of (MCM, GlobalSemi), nothing there. The only way I managed to get connectors of that type (only two of them) is by ripping them from broken devices. I'd like some more so I can finish S-video mods on a few systems of mine. Any idea where I can find some? Thanks in advance for the help!

Sensato,
An S-video connector ceases to be an S-video connector when it's not attached to an A/V device. What you're after is a 4 pin mini (or micro) DIN connector.

Where does one find SCART connectors in the USA (a place that takes small orders would be best)? I can't seem to find them anywhere to purchase. I need them to build cables for my XRGB.

In the states, you'll never find SCART stuff in a retail establishment. If you have a mom 'n pop TV store from the old days, they might have some components that they're willing to sell. Otherwise, it's mail order for you. Mindlogic is a nice outfit in California that sells lots of SCART cables and switches, but no actual connector components:

NCS in New York stocks SCART cables for Genesis and Saturn. They used to have Playstation and Xbox SCART cables too, but those sell out quickly when they get them.

Kycon in California has a confusing web page, and doesn't really cater to onesy-twosy end user purchasing. They're one of the few places in the states that stocks SCART connectors because they make them. If you want to go wholesale, they look okay (but I haven't bought from them before.)

MCM, Fry's and Radio Shack all used to have SCART parts, but they don't have them any more because there's simply no demand in the states. Hope that gets you started.

Just buy an XRGB Euro SCART to Japanese 21 Pin RGB converter cable..

Then you can just use any normal European scart.

Why not register and send me a PM?

PS I have heard from someone that bought a scart cable from NCS it was wired all incorrectly and didnt work.

I'm not associated with NCS, but I've been buying from them for almost ten years now. Besides having one of every JPN-region import item any American might want, they've also got a pretty good return policy. They're not a manufacturer, just an American distributor for gaming stuff.

-KKC, who plans on buying a JPN PS3 from them when he has the scratch.

Mind logic has a hell of a selection, looks great, particularly if you have some esoteric or specialised purpose for it. However, they're expensive.

If you just need any old general SCART crap, why not look on ebay? Stuff is plentiful and cheap. I have never had a seller of SCART equipment refuse to ship to the USA.
