HiSaturn Navi
The HiSaturn Navi shouldn't need much
introduction. Produced when the Saturn was only a year
old it's said only 2,000 units were manufactured. A
wacky hybrid console produced at the height of the
Japanese bubble economy, this game system includes all
the Sega Saturn functionality and blends it with a
smaller shell, more features, and a removable screen.
Oh, and a GPS.

This HiSaturn Navi system will play
all Japanese Saturn games and you can play US + Euro
games just as easily as on any other Saturn system. It
has a dizzying array of ports, including all the
standard Saturn ports: AV + Link, VCD-card slot, and 2
controller ports. It also includes HiSaturn Navi-only
ports, like 2 Karaoke mic inputs (With dual volume
controls), Line-Out (for buzz-free audio). Video and
audio inputs, so you can use the attached screen as a
video monitor. There is a TV-Tuner input, but I don't
believe the tuner was ever released.
Top mounted
controls include Echo +/- and Pitch +/- controls,
Stereo, Multiplex + Voice-Cancel buttons. Unlike normal
Saturns you can use these controls in-game to adjust the
sound on the fly! The screen includes volume, tint +
brightness controls, as well as a Front/Rear select
switch, the purpose for which is so secret I have no
idea what it is.

This system is very capable! It plays
Saturn games, Video CDs, CD+G, CD+EG, as well as CDs and
CD singles. It works with all Saturn accessories,
including the Save RAM carts, 1-4MB RAM expansion carts,
Multi-Taps, sticks, racing controllers, etc.

Caveats: This system was designed for use
in a car, and it was used in a car. There's a few scuffs
here and there (You can see them in the pictures). I'd
rate it a 8-9/10 cosmetically. There are no fuctional
problems - everything works, and works well. The screen
is bright and clear, the pad is still 'punchy'.

This system also includes some extra stuff. The
original, bagged + unused Velcro strips for securing the
HiSaturn to your dash or console. Also, there's
the original purchase warranty card/proof of purchase, a
manual addendum sheet, customer-reply card and
