Writing 5.25 floppies

Is there a way to write 5.25 inch floppies on a modern day PC from a .xdf image.

There is this device for modern Windows PCs:

Main stumbling block usually is getting hold of a 5.25" drive.

I don't think this device will write .xdf files directly so they will need converting.

You might have to convert to a suitable format via HXC Software.

There are also other X68000 converters for the other formats such as .dim Sorry I don't have those links to hand.

I expect what you want to write (unless personal data) is available to download in other formats.

I've got a older WinXP rig with internal 5.25" drive for writing disks. There are 2 software solutions for (Omiflop is one ) but it expects an internal disk drive plugged into PCs motherboard.

I've got an older pc i had especially done for x68000 floppies. It's not with me at the moment though.

I could do with a master disk and I have purchased a raspberry pinto act as a hard drive.

I am not 100% sure with SCSI, but from what I read you still need to go into Switch.x to set the SCSI ID number.

I am not sure of your CF device. But with the other devices I have seen, the file name on the SDcard/CF gives the SCSI ID.

I imagine with a run out battery the X68000 will default to something like '0' so you could put your CF into a PC and see if there is a single file stored on it and what it is called.

If it has say a 3 in the filename try changing it to 0 and see if it boots.

I should be able to write a Masterdisk for you and send back with the Keys. As always its just time to do it all at the moment. 😃

According to this site they would do xdf just fine

Greaseweazle or Fluxengine hardware can be used to format and write images to a floppy in one step. Besides XDF, there is also limited support for D88 and DIM floppy image support. Regardless of your hardware choice, you will need the Fluxengine software.
