Hello all i got a x68000 pro from japan it looks like its working but i have some strange video issues with Detana!! TwinBee i will upload some pictures to show what i mean can this be due to a ram issue ?

robbert30

here are the pictures

robbert30

hello all today i tryed dig dug and witht this game the sprite`s are messed up can this be due to the caps or the sprite controller ?

Cyothevile

First of all did you clear SRAM, set memory and then try using software?

robbert30

Hello i did not try to clear the sram yet

robbert30

after clearin the sram and setting switch.x its still the same

Cyothevile

It is likely those capacitors. It sounds like you bought it from Japan and did nothing else to it.

The power supply is likely swampy and need a rebuild. Then all capacitors on motherboard and socket a battery for SRAM.

robbert30

i swapped the caps of the near the video port they where leaking now I have some issues with the green signal I think its a broken trace checked the suply of the psu caps are not leaking and when I measure the power on the conector on the motherboard the voltage are okay I still need to swap the rest of the caps on the mainboard and place a socket for the battery

Cyothevile

Use sentences next time.

But yes you're on the right track. X68000 capacitors are very far beyond their life cycle and you should continue to change the rest. Let us know if you still have trouble

robbert30

are the schematics of the X6800 pro available ?

Cyothevile

Pro schematics aren't available. I think it's just 030 compact, XVI and I think another tower has schematics available.

Why are you asking for schematics? I don't understand this question.

robbert30

I wanted the scematics to see where the signals for the rgb are coming from

Cyothevile

Oh ok. That is very fair. Well, the schematics won't be 1:1 to PRO but you can examine some of the other computer schematics. You should think of it maybe as a type of block diagram instead as you will need to trace everything backwards from the RGB port.

I think they're on the file section of the wiki.

I still think with capacitors at 29 years old you should consider blindly changing all of them. I think it should make your pc bullet proof

robbert30

today I swapped all the caps on the main board. and most of them on the 2nd board only the one`s from the audio are left . and fixed my broken trace for the green signal :) but still i have the issue`s like showed above. but found when i probe the cathy chip the graphics change to like they should be could the cathy be broken ?

Cyothevile

What do you mean you probed it?

Maybe something between RGB out and the controller has died.

robbert30

i was trying to find the rgb signal to fix my green issue .and when i was doing that i saw the missing parts of the sprites in twinbee

Cyothevile

I don't have my pro open...

I assume schematics from other towers indicate a few logic ICs before the signals go to RGB board? Maybe one of those are bad.

I'm looking at the cz-634-tn schematics. its look like the signal is going to vips. but i cant find where it`s coming from. i was probing around pin31 until pin 50 i think most of those are ground ?

robbert30

hello i have good news. the x68000 is working :) . i found a small broken trace from cynthia to cathy. after repairing it all the sprites are working :)
