The VGA circuit built in to the Dreamcast is pretty damn cool, although I then wondered what you do for sound on that one? It's pretty sweet though, you should get a replacement Dreamcast shell, all the transparent ones are dirt cheap now. Look for one on ebay.

I love the red color job actually....I hardly see any problem with it at all.  The saturn looks nice too  If you mod sega systems maybe youd be interested in mine?  They dont look as nice as yours, but theyre pretty cool.  I made a portabe Saturn (mostly for the built in screen rather than travel) and a portable sega cdx.  Ill be putting up pics on yahoo tomorrow (finished the cdx today)let me know if you wanna see em

yeah, i noticed there are a lot of real jerks around these forums....I don't know why as most of the online gaming community that I'm in touch with is full of real loveable fellas...but the people here seem to be really full of themselves and rarely will give any praise.  You're probably better off hitting up the forums on gamefaqs.com or classicgaming.com/japangaming if you need some good advice for improvements on your mods and/or praise for all your hard work  

As for my CDX pics...I'm having camera troubles so I won't be able to put the new ones up for a couple days.  If you want to see the old ones of my prototype model that I slapped together with electrical tape (lol) check em out here:

You can see the set up works perfectly although the asthetics lack terribly.  Since these pics I've removed all the tape and spent a month building a casing for the screen/tv, and painted the unit and added an internal radio and a bunch of other stuff.  I'll send you the links when I get em up  Good luck on your modding!

Speaking only for myself, I think you're confusing 'jerks' with 'people who've heard the same question from a thousand idiots and are just a little tired of it'.  

I'm firmly of the opinion that other forums, by and large, suck - especially the ones at gamefaqs, which is populated almost entirely with ignorant whiny fanboys who've only got opinions, facts be damned.

If you want someone to tell you how wonderful you are, you've definitely come to the wrong place.  This is a community of modders with brains (or at least that's the lie I tell myself) and I don't know why we SHOULD be nice to idiots.  Dumbing down the forums makes it less valuable, IMO, and if it comes to that stage I'd rather close them down.

I think this ties into the whole hand-holding system-specific guides which I don't do on gamesx.com.  The information I give isn't sparse to be mean, it's all you need.

And remember, if you want praise for your mod you'll need better pics than these and try not to say, of your own work,  "this paint job is not very good."  If you know it sucks why would you expect praise?  =)

I know you�re the admin, and could easily edit or delete this post, but I know you will have to read it first, and that�s its purpose.
I never asked for praise. I asked for some feedback, good or bad, and I made that clear in my initial post. Tell me if ya' love 'em, or if ya' don't. You linked to photos that had nothing to do with this string, the only relevance your reply had to do with this string, was helping prove there's at least one jerk on these forums. You shouldn't confuse YOUR opinion with fact. Saying I was 'sensitive,' was a joke. If you don't like my mods, I'd love some criticism, but there's no need to be a jerk about it, plus you didn�t give me any feedback anyway. Maybe share some ideas about what you might have done, or tips to make other people's work better. If you're going to act like an elitist, some amazing video game mod-genius, why not help us instead of insult us? Oh, and this site is awesome, it has been �all I need,� I�ve had help on many projects here, but everyone starts somewhere. If this site wasn�t meant for people new to the modding world, you should either moderate the boards more, or put up a disclaimer.
I really enjoy the site, keep up the good work.

Actually lesmot I wasn't referring to you, I was referring to Segasonicfan's post.  I'm never one to discourage mods, but I am one to encourage better and better mods; I also won't lie to you and say "that's great!" when even you know they're not.  Would you rather I was honest, or would you rather have your ego stroked?

I linked to those other pictures to make a point: Blurry pictures won't elicit a positive response like clear ones will.  Vague indistinct pictures of something that may or may not be a repainted console should never garner you more than a "What's that?" response, as far as I'm concerned.  =)

In any case I was venting, clearing up a few other  misconceptions at the same time.  No offense intended, and I'm glad we see eye to eye on the handholding.

It's great that you can bash people who don't know as much as you do. And being new to something obviously makes a person dumb, right? Positive feedback, encouragement, help, and being nice to them are definitely out of the question. If you offered any of those, it might make them want to continue down the new path. Of course, having more support for something you are interested in (of any kind) is terrible. So you should insult everyone who is interested in the things you like, and then they'll all leave. Maybe then everyone will agree with you (since it will be only you) and you can have fun doing doing your mods by yourself since you're so clearly the most brilliant out of everyone.

Maybe, caphynehy, you could read what I write instead of launching into this little tirade?  I didn't bash anyone, insult them or call anyone dumb.  If you'll look back you'll find it was segasonicfan who started calling people jerks (tho in his defence he didn't specifiy who the jerks were...)

well it looks like everyone is deciding to cause i big stink here.  Yes, I suppose I instigated the tirades that followed my post, but that was not my intention.  I was merely informing lesmot not to be discouraged by people on these forums because (in my opinion) some of them are jerks.  I'm not going to name names and I'm not trying to put people down, that's childish.  I'm just saying this for lesmot's benefit.  Anyway, I think all this is pretty pointless now since we have seemed to already voice our opinions.  I think the paint job is great and the pictures were of very nice quality (in my opinion).  And it's true what lesmot says, we all have to start somewhere...

Well, this has been fun! Lawrence, I thought you were calling me an idiot and saying my work was poor, with out giving suggestions, or details, so that's why my other post was a bit harsh. I understand where you're coming from now.
I built the VGA mod by looking at a schematic for a DC VGA box. It wasn't too difficult, except for the soldering. The End!

I think I like the paintjob but as mentioned the photos are poor so its hard to tell. Internal VGA box is smart and nice i did something similiar to my SNES.

And to throw in my own 2 cents everyone that participated in this little argument was right. It all depends on how you look at the situation. I also must say that I have also felt belittled by people on this forum, and really does feel insulting. Why? Well it may be egotistical but we all do these things to a certain extent to show off. We take the pictures in hopes that one of the other guys that we look up to will see them and give suggestions or give it praise. When one of those people bashes your project or slaps "NEWB" on your forehead... well, It hurts.

However Im not saying thats what happened here.
