Anybody have an extra one they want to sell?  One of the drives on my expert crapped out for the third time and I can't get it to work anymore.  It finally quit reading the disks, now it just spins them and spits them out.

I don't think I have the soldering skills to change all the tiny caps in that thing.

I can't help, have no spares here and I am myself trying to repair four disk drives.
Two spit the disks, and the other two scratch the floppies.

I have replaced 7 caps on each drive, for no help... did not change the ones next to the motor.

That is a shame we still don't have a solution for this problem...

 Hi Martymcfly !

QuoteI don't think I have the soldering skills to change all the tiny caps in that thing.

Start by replacing the two 100uf capacitors which are near the power connector. Very easy to do and could help.

Keep the scene alive !

Thanks, I will try this and see what happens.

Whenever I service one of these drives I not only do the caps but I also clean off and regrease all the moving parts.  That old black grease gets really sticky and can prevent the drive from moving properly.  I also very carefully clean the drive heads with some 99.99% alcohol.
