Games with >2MB RAM? Games that need Keyboard?

It would be so great if someone could help me compile a list of X68k games by required RAM to run them.  There's so little info out there on this!  I could only find this page:

http://www7.ocn.ne.jp/~debiddo/mygames.htm

which was very helpful, to say the least.  Let's add to it!

I also have a system without a keyboard, which is nice if you just want to play games off the floppy.  BUT, some games require simple key option presses at boot, or so it seems.  Castlevania asks me something in Japanese at boot, so I can't play it :/  It would be nice to know which games do this (and which games have keyboard accessible only option screens.)  Also, which games boot at 15khz by default and stuff like that!  So far I learned Zugya boots at 15khz and Cotton's menus can be accessed by pressing left on the controller.

if you don't have a castlevania user disk that's what it was looking for when booting Castlevania.

all Capcom games boot 15khz
Super Street Fighter 2 seems to boot in 31kHZ, I've to change crt mode from 4 to 1 to get it to 15kHz. By the way, since I haven't any manual. Please could someone confirm that:
   CRT MODE 1 : 15kHz narrow
   CRT MODE 2 : 15kHz wide
   CRT MODE 3 : 31kHz narrow
   CRT MODE 4 : 31kHz wide

Hatenkou looks like another that needs >2MB (I think?) since when I boot it up on my system it says "x68k PCM8A Polyphonic ADPCM drive 0.57" but never loads.  I reburned with no luck and it doesn't hang on a CRC so I think its a RAM issue.

 Hi Segasonicfan !

FYI
Games1 = Can be launched from LHES on 2MB machines.
Games2 = 2Mb required. Must be launched from HumanOS.
Games3 = More than 2Mb required.

QuoteThis is perfect, it should be in the wiki :)

I am very glad that you decided to volunteer for the job. ;)

People keep telling me this, but where do I find Games1,2,3,etc?  Where is this list?

Boot from it and Look in the root directory ;)

Or look in the HDD_V4.SP1

Thanks for the post eidis, helpful as always!

Though this directory is not correct in terms of RAM requirement running from FDD.  The Games3 directory has Cotton, Daimakaimura, and Strider which all run on 2MB RAM.  Others in there probably do too.  So I'm still trying to find out what needs more :/ It would be great to know especially if Hatenkou and Illumination Laser require more, because I really want to play them.

Pretty sure those games require more ram when booted from the HD.

Opethian

any game that uses 2hd boot will need 2MB (or what ever the requirement is) + 1.2MB/disk  to load each disk into RAM.

yep, maybe I should have been more clear.  I don't have an HD and I am trying to find out RAM requirements for Floppy games.  Specifically Hatenkou and Illumination Laser.

Hi Segasonicfan !

Hatenkou, Illumination Laser, Super Street Fighter 2, Duel Fighter 2 and some rare 1% of X68000 game library require 4Mb RAM. It is safe to assume that almost any game will run from floppy on 2Mb machine. There is no need to reinvent the wheel ;)

Thanks for this info!  This is what I was wanting to know.  I hear Mahou whatever- the Dimahoo prequel-  is also a >2MB game.  and I think Fatal Fury as well.

Mahou Daisakusen can run on only 2 MB but RAM is the least of your worries on that game you need an 030 to even enjoy it.

SuperDeadite

Eternal World requires 6mbs.  I can't imagine anyone really playing through it properly, but it is quite a nifty tech demo to see running on the real machine at least.

Segasonicfan

Sadly, Neural Gear requires a keyboard.  I think Bomberman does too.  Apparently some puzzlers do too, since it is needed to restart the level when you mess up a puzzle (I think).  i.e. Flappy 2

Even worse. It requires a mouse ;)

Neural Gear sucks with a mouse though.  Cyberstick is pretty much required to really enjoy it.
