Hi all!

I have a Optoma HD70 www.projectorcentral.com/Optoma-HD70.htm and would like to connect my consoles to it via the best way possible.

Of course composite and s-video works. But especially my Mega Drive could look better (i hope).

I have tried to get RGB cables to all of the consoles and convert the signal via a RGB -> Component converter. CYP CSY-2100 www.cypuk.com/cyp_techpage.php?product=106&&parent=0.
The Dreamcast works with this set-up (except for Super Street Fighter 2 X, my favorite game of all time :'( ).
The saturn does not work though the title screen for Biohazard (Resident Evil) showed up! (Where Chris walks in the hallway and blood starts spraying)
The older consoles obviously doesn't work either. I guess that is because they output 15kHz RGB and the Dreamcast outputs 30kHz??

Now, from what I've read here, I could get a XRGB2+ and Japanese RGB cables and use the converter (or just settle with s-video ;D ).

But I've seen RGB Scart to HDMI converters http://www.cypuk.com/cyp_techpage.php?product=287&&parent=. Does anyone know if this would work with the RGB-cables to older systems? Or is there still a problem with the 15kHz RGB?

Is there any other good solutions out there? Any solutions are welcome!

Here is some good news, it looks like this projector can take 15.75khz RGB input directly via its VGA port with no adapters or upscanners. All you likely need to do is build a SCART to VGA cable and use SCART cables with all your consoles.

Thank you for the quick reply!
I have tried this before though and I only get a red, green and blue flickering screen. I bought the RGB Scart -> VGA cable at a cheap shop here in Sweden (Kjell & Co.) so I'm not sure of the quality of the cable.

Maybe it has to with my set-up as well. I connect the consoles to a Silverscreen Trilogy RGB Switcher http://www.lektropacks.com/view_product_standard.php?product=77&department=&sub1=&show=. So now I tried with connecting the switcher going to the HD70 via the RGB Scart -> VGA cable. But I only get the screen flickering.

Any hints to what could be wrong?

Sounds like a sync problem to me, the converter cable is probably not wired for sync on the right pin(s).
You'd just need to check which wire goes to which pin, make sure it's where it should be and if not rewire it to where it should be.

I don't know SCART, so that's all the advice I can offer. And I've only ever made my own cables for things like this, which I feel is the better way.......you know what you're getting.

Going by the pin out posted on that website, it looks like its wired wrong. Here is a good link covering SCART to VGA connections: http://www.tkk.fi/Misc/Electronics/faq/vga2rgb/scart.html Added a LM1881 to the adapter is highly recommended, your projector might not take composite video as a sync signal.

Thx for the link!
The cable is wired wrong.. This makes me so pissed..  >:(
I am very glad to know of the problem though. THX!

I can't build cables but I'll buy one that is wired correctly instead.
