Starting from scratch

OK, here we go:

    When it comes to electronics, I am a fish out of water. I have read "Howard's" explanation of how to get RGB and I think I know how to go about it...But I need to make sure

    First off, I have a NTSC SNES system. I am planning on using the popular DB9 connector on the system itself, and I am planning on purchasing the Commodore 1084 monitor (which I also believe has the DB9 connector)

    So, what in the hell do I do next?! I have gathered I probably need to but the European SCART cable that was made for PAL SNES's, then cut-off the 21 pin adapter next...right? OK, from there it gets hazy.

    How would I go about running the various wires from inside the cable into the DB9 connector to the monitor? Do I solder the wires somehow to the inside of the connector? How about the other end of the cable...Do I cut off the AV dongle connector and attach the other DB9 connector?

    Looking inside the SNES, will it be obvious where the RGB, sync, and ground connectors are on the main board?

    Frankly, I wish there were a video tutorial on this: If any of you can give me some sort of step-by-step in layman's terms, I would be very grateful

Don't start asking questions until you open it up and look for yourself.

Part of the reason this site exists is to encourage exploration and experimentation.  Open it up, see what's in there, try and nut it out, try a few things, then ask your specific questions.

I don't do guides, 'cause it keeps people from thinking.  I realize you're probably starting from near zero, but currently you're not even sure what you need to know.

Fair enough, I literally just purchased the 4.5mm bit to get my SNES open (it's a early model if that matters) I understand where you are going with the spirit of exploration bit, but I just don't want to ruin my SNES or monitor.

Personally, I would first dig out a SCART pin out and a pin-out for the RGB in on the 1084.

I would then obtain a SCART line socket and wire up a SCART to DB9 adapter so I could in future make use of off the shelf SCART cables, instead of having to wire up a new cable for every console.

That's just one idea tho.
