Stupid Common Controlers!

All right, I am so tired of trying to get a stupid extremely common controller for use with my Amiga. It uses the same controllers that Atari systems used! It's so easily fabricated that five-year-old children had made them when they didn't like their controllers!
I've looked everywhere! I've even tried to modify a Genesis controller to work with it, but it became way too complex.
What happened to all of those pads? they made them in myriads, but now they are a rare find.I can't even find them at Game Repair, and they have everything.

If the amiga used the same controller as an old atari computer the use this pinout: http://www.gamesx.com/controldata/2600.htm and buy a genesis pad or something with the same connector, cut of the cable at  the controller end and check which cable is which. Buy a arcade joystick and some buttons from somewhere, shouldn't be too hard to find. Solder and put it all in a nice box and there you have a nice amiga controller.

Can't see why it should be so hard to find a "real" one though, here in sweden there are tons of them in the flee markets and auction sites, check ebay?

The pinout for the Amiga joystick/mouse connector is available here:

The vast majority of controllers used with Atari/Commodore/etc will work on the Amiga.  Sega Master System controllers can be used and some later games will recognise the 2nd button.

From memory you need to avoid Amstrad/Sinclair controllers.  They use pin 7 for a 2nd button/player 2.  Either can ground pin 7 which is +5V on the Amiga controller port.

If you really can't find one it's trivial to rewire any digital pad of your choice for the Amiga using the pinout above.
