need help on PS2 + xselect-d4 running 480p games

Okay I'm confused and is hoping someone knows what is wrong with my setup.

My PS2 is connected via component cables to Micomsoft's xselect-d4 playing Ratchet & Clank: Up your Arsenal (U/C)

The PS2 is menued to output YPbPr and the xselect-d4 indicates presence of progressive signal thru its frontal LED but there's no image on my monitor.. getting sometimes a blank screen somethimes a "H.V Frequency Over Range" error msg  

Something I missed?
