Hi all.

I want to burn my own ROMs for X68000. Are they interchangeable with something like 27C-series or not?

That's...  not something many people do.  What are you trying to achieve?

I would have guessed any alternative BIOS would have come with instructions.  Maybe crack open your system and see what it's using?

W27C512 in a PRO. You need two, even and odd bytes. I don't know offhand what other machines use but I think all but the 030 (and maybe the XVI) use the same. You need to switch a jumper to enable the eproms instead of the built in mask roms.

Unless you're up to something I suggest you use Kamada's 1.6 IPL.

Here's a rom patcher and instructions for using that IPL.

I recently translated the original x68k ROM into English - posted it here on the forum. I want to burn it and use it in my x68k.

Generally yes you can but what model is it? I know for a fact the first model uses 2x 27C512 or pinout equivalent. You just program and swap ROM chips and it should be all. You need to prepare 2 .bin files and make a script that separates odd and even bytes or maybe use a software that does just that but I have no idea if anything like this exists but maybe someone else knows

Almost all ROM burning software burning can do this.

Thanks, I will try to use a pair of 27C512.

@megabyte1986 I have burnt ROMs for my Expert 2. The originals are back in, so I will have a look and read off the EPROM Part Number and update this post later.

Update - I used AMD AM27C512-70DC

So 27C512 at 70ns speed

I use IPLROM 1.6 in my ACE and the latest one solves some audio issues I was having at 14Mhz. I generate it using XEiJ and write it on to 2 27C512 EPROMs. I have never heard of, or used, the patcher you mention. I tried to download it to have a look but my computer refuses saying it's a virus.

What exactly does it do??
