a couple of weeks ago i got a whole load of blue, pink and white leds.. this gamecube controller is one of the results.
when the gamecube is turned on, the lower half of the controller lights up blue and when the controller vibrates the underneath of the d-pad and the c-stick flash bright pink!

and i finally got me a digital camera, heres the pics:

Hey, that's pretty cool.

One tip I've got for anyone doing LED mods: if you sand the LED (with sandpaper, a file or a dremel) you can diffuse the light creating a more even spray.  Most modern LEDs tend to focus the light a little too narrowly.

Really nice! I think all transparent controllers should come with LEDs. But then it wouldn't be as much fun as installing them yourself...

Do you have a guide and or Faq for how to perform that mod.

It looks extremly cool.

Heck Yeah! Thats some nice work man! When I began reading your post I dreaded another "LED mod" but that is really nice. I assume the purple LED's light up when a rumble is sent to the motors? Do the motors still turn?

I am so impressed by this l33t controller I wanna build on too. All I have here is Radio Shack and will cost me at least 15 bucks in LED's. Hmmmmm wheres my gamebit....
forgive my broked english, for I am an AMERICAN

the mod is really simple, theres already a 3.3v line to run the blue leds, although someone said its meant to be a data line, it doesnt affect the controller in any way.
the pink leds are meant to be rated at ~3.3-3.8v but i set up some glitchyness with ssbm and my action replay and had the leds connected in parallel with the motor for about 20 mins and they leds werent harmed, the data sheet says you can raise the voltage if its pulsed, i dunno, but its been tested thoroughly and theres no problem. connect all leds in parallel, there are three blue leds and two pink ones.
for the cost: look around ebay, i found an led shop in hong kong which had a whole bunch of packs that nobody had bid on so they were all 1c.. all i did was pay shipping. i got a pack of 50 blue leds, 25 white and 10 pink, i paid about $10 for the blue ones cos they werent 1c anymore and $5 each for the other two packs. i ended up with a profit by selling them singularly to my friends for less than 50c each.

yes the controller still rumbles, it just flashes alot while its doing it.
