XRGB2+... "problem"...

Greetings,

Since about a week or so I've been able to play my - PAL - N64 through Video In via the XRGB2+ (which I bought about a year ago  :rolleyes: ) on my Dell P1690.
Today, the following occrured: whilist racing vs my dear brother on Mario Kart 64, a sudden black screen welcomed us in the middle of the race, stating "None Input."
This was highly bizarre, as this had never happened before... The sound however continued to play...
I then discovered the device - ie XRGB2+ - was extremely warm, which lead me to believe something burnt through... I opened it, took some photos of the interior - although I'm quite sure nothing's visibly wrong... - and closed it again.

Sounds like video connections. Open it up and check the physical before getting all electronic.

I did open if up, see the pics in my first post... However, I do not have the capability to tell whether something wrong or not...

OK, after speaking - or rather, mailing, if you wish - with the man I bought the device from, according to him, in the situation I described, my LED shouldn't be on as there would be a problem with the AC adaptor and thus no power. However, the LED is on...

PLEASE, I beg of you all, help me

the XRGB can run warm, I wouldn't say it's overheated and died (tho it is possible).  The first thing I alwas blame is the wiring.  Check all your connections, from the console to the XRGB.  Wiggle things.  unplug and replug.

The fact that your monitor says "none input" means the XRGB is working fine, it's just not receiving a signal (for whatever reason).

Thanks for your reply, Lawrence, it got me thinking: maybe my XRGB2+ wasn't the culprit. So I disconnected my N64, and plugged in my GC. Which went fine...
Then, I tried to connect my N64 to my TV, same there: no picture, only sound...

So, ladies and gentlemen, my dear 6-year old N64 with a Joanna Dark Sticker on front is broke...
Unless of course any of you can help me once more?

Anyhow, luckily my XRGB2+ isn't broken

PS: Any chance whatsoever that the reason my N64 broke was because of it's recent use through the XRGB2+? Most probably a very stupid and unnecessary, but one can never be too sure

The odds of the N64 going funny because of the XRGB are so close to zero there's no point discussing it.  Replace the N64 (they're cheap!) and get back to playing.

Your N64 probably has a busted power supply - that's the flakiest part of the system and it happens a lot.

You can order new N64 PSUs from nintendo.com, but buying a new system may be less trouble.
