I would assume the way Sega Naomi reads off the SCSI bus is different but then again, it's definitely the SCSI spec so maybe it'd work?

SCSI-2 expects 10mhz transfers, SCSI-1 only 5mhz. While SCSI-2 interfaces may be able to use SCSI-1 drives, it may not be possible to use a SCSI-2 drive with a SCSI-1 interface.

Really though, with the SD2SCSI available, why bother converting CF to SCSI.

The Naomi stuff isn't really SCSI.  (The CF adapters are just talking old ATA/IDE command sets.)  They just happen to use the SCSI-2 like cabling.  (They also use USB cables for RS-422/485 like signaling-- just taking advantage of cheap/available stuff from the PC market instead of doing custom stuff.)
