[N64 region mod] An eeprom instead of the PIF chip ???

Hi,

I would to make a region mod on my Nintendo 64, I know it is possible with the 2 kinds of PIF chips (PIF-NUS
and PIF(P)-NUS), so it is necesarry to sacrify a console to get the second chip needed.

I know there is a "rom" of the PIF-NUS = pifdata.bin, so I wonder if it would be possible to use an eeprom instead
the original chip PIF-NUS (and no need to sacrify a console).
If that's possible I don't know how and which eeprom to use.
