They all seem to have the mouse/keyboard and they are all are priced at around 4680 Yen (that's about $56USD) before shipping and commission and re-shipping with the YAJ proxy service of your choice. These machines were actually listed a few weeks earlier, but they got lost in the shuffle as there were 50 of them. The ones that didn't get sold have now been relisted:

There's some caveats. First is that they're all untested (but they do power on, and show signs of life). Second is that they're Compacts. The disks can be written on modern hardware, though the software hackery needed to do so can get troublesome under modern Windows (it's probably easier under Linux, but that's just a guess).

The biggie, as I've just found out, is that Compacts use SMT electrolytic capacitors. From the early 90s. If you've ever owned an Amiga 4000, or a Turbo Duo, or any number of 68K Macs from that era, you know what you could be in for if they've started to leak.

A friend of mine bought one from the last round, and it arrived in good working shape. It was showing signs of cap rot, but that was eventually fixed. It should run fine for years to come.

Anyway, these are a bargain if you want to get a real X68000 of your very own. They usually go for a LOT more, and don't always come with the (ultra-proprietary) mouse and keyboard.

It would be great if we could arrange a 'proxy' in japan. Not just for this auction but other delicious auctions only open to locals.

I am sure if someone living in japan wanted to make some money there would be several of us willing to use them and bypass the 'official proxies'...

Anyone? I'm interested.
X68000 ACE-HD, 4Mb RAM, ATX PSU (internal). Cyber Stick. Keyboard. Mouse. Monitor. ACARD AEC-7720U SCSI-IDE with 1Gb compact flash.

To be honest, Shopping Mall Japan is much easier, quicker and cheaper than trying to find someone in Japan who'll go to the trouble of getting something off YAJ for you. They can also do bulk deals if you're so inclined.

Hello all, I've just found this forum after looking for info on the X68000.

I've just took a chance and ordered one of these, it was a bit too good a deal to pass up, finger crossed it's ok when it turns up. Looking at prices on YHJ it seems that keyboard and mouse are worth the price on their own.

NFG

The Compacts have a much nicer keyboard than the originals too, so it's money very well spent.

Does anyone know the rough weight of the Compact, just trying to figure out how much shipping will be. Cheers.

;D  hey it's funny.  i spotted them too a while ago. but i couldnt contact people who could help me to bid  ::).         but this time it was the last chance !     the seller made "1Y" starts.... and they nearly all sold about ~4000-4800Y.    i searched some sites, and found a good middleman who anwers quickly  and 1. wanted to bid on heavy items !  2.  ship by boat !.      so my middleman has battled a little   (i should have said him to bid more...)    but could win 2 of them.    that's good news to hear that someone had got one ok  ;).    let's wait about 3months boat to see that more precisely...

i wouldnt have bet anything till i came to find information about "easy" transfer files to 3,5"  on a korean blog...

Yes, I always  wondering if it could be possibile to write .XDF image (originally obtained from 5.25" floppy disks) to 3.5" floppy disks and then read them with a X68000 Compact model. So can you confirm this?Is the the guide you are talking about this?:

P.S.
I knew that X68000 Compact models could run 5.25" software only with an external 5.25" floppy drive and any 5.25" to 3.5" conversion was impossible...
