i'm looking to mod my pc engine turbo duo with a 8pin connector (instead of 4 pin) to allow me to use a genesis scart (rgb) cable or even a neo geo (rgb) scart cable. Im not sure what signals are need to output rgb. are they just red green blue and ground ?

kendrick

Please have a look at the PCE RGB mod section on the front page. Please also have a look at the RGB primer page on the wiki.

ive already looked at that page and the genesis pinouts also i need to know what are the main signals lines necessary for a rgb connection.

kendrick

RGB has a separate signal for each color, plus a synch signal. This may be combined onto the green wire, or it may come on a separate wire. Depending on what type of connector you're using, you may also need to have a common (but separate) shield ground around each signal.

I'll see what I can do about getting the RGB primer content back into the Wiki.

ok thanks for your help. im looking to make it either scart or component, anythings better than composite.

nevarna

where do you draw the +5v line from a turbo duo red green blue and composite sync are listed but not the +5v line

kendrick

Five volts is available from the standard AV plug on pin 4. Please read the pinout carefully. If you're tapping internally, any line feeding off of the 7805 convertor will do.

Hi,
i have attempted to mod my pc engine turbo duo for rgb scart
Firstly i made a scart cable using help from http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/sega/md-stereo-scart.htm. I then modded it for stereo sound with din pins 7 and 1.
Next i wired up an 8pin din to match scart cable wiring and to replace the normal 4 pin din.
I then soldered the 4 wires from the graphics chip which were red, green, blue and composite sync from http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/duorgb.php to the 8pin din connector and i wired a 5th wire which is ground to the shielding on the back of the duo.
So all i need is the is +5v line now right ? and i get that from where the old 4 pin din was pin 4 ?
is that all i need to get rgb scart working  ? ill worry about the audio later?
Could someone help me out with this.
Thanks

nevarna

Audio successfully wired standard led replaced with a blue led. Upload pictures soon of pc engine
