RGB Vs. D-terminal for GC

Simple question of quality. Since I don't have the space (or at this point, money) for a plasma display or an HDTV, I plan on using a 22" CRT NEC/Mitsubishi monitor with an X-Select D4 for my console gaming. My question is, will the D-terminal cable for a GC be just as good as (or better than) using the specially modded/made RGB cable? Either way, it'll be connected to my monitor via the X-Select D4. One benefit I see to using D-terminal for video is that I can connect the audio cables directly to my surround sound system, but pure video quality is my goal here.
