Mod a LCD TopGun to work on other systems.

This is a well known gun that will work with ps2, xbox and pc on any display. And it supports 2 players It uses some type of ir tracking similar to the wii remote or the guncon 3.
I have yet to see one work in person but there are many Youtube videos.

The basic idea would be to get the LCD TopGun and modify it to work with other older systems such as the sega statun or nes (not sure if it works with the ps1 already)

From watching some of the videos it looks like the gun is really seen like a controller and less like a light gun. The video on Youtube show no flashing on the screen as if they are not in light gun mode.

If this is the case maybe some existing system y to system x controller adapter may let it work with other systems. At least games that support play with the controller and do not require the light gun to play.

If that is not the case and the gun works more like a real light gun and the games think they have a light gun connected. Maybe the gun can be moded with some parts from an original light gun (like from a Saturn gun.)

Does any one have any real solid info on how guns like the LCD TopGun  works?
