Best kind of cable for RGB

I wanna finally Do it Myself despite my lack of technical knowledge and shaky hands, so I was wondering what is the best kind of cable to get for creating RGB cables? I read using SCART RGB cables and rewiring was best, but is there a way to modify s-video or composite cables into RGB? For example, I can't find a SCART RGB cable for Atari Jaguar, but I do have an s-video cable for Jaguar so can I somehow modify it for RGB ?

The reason we suggest using a SCART cable is 'cause it has the right number of wires in it.  An Svideo cable has only five wires: GND, Y, C, Left, Right.

You CAN re-use the Jaguar Svideo CONNECTOR.  You'll need a sharp knife and a strong arm to remove the plastic cover, but then you should find a large rectangular glob of silicone inside, which you can cut through to reach solder points on the pins.  I've done this a couple of times with great success.

Since when has S-Video connectors carried audio?    I think you mean a GND for each Y and C, and the shell ground..  Technically only 4 wires unless you count the shell..

I think he means the jaguar specific cable which includes Right and Left audio, not an s-video cable in general.

I've used VGA cables, they have shielded RGB wires and there's a few more wires that can be used for audio, sync and +5v.

The reason we tend to use SCART cables is because they have the console side already lined up for us. All we have to do then is make the proper connections on the other end. If you use something else, you might have to rewire the console end of the cable, while it can vary from cable to cable this can be tougher to do in my experience, whereas monitor ends are usually very standard, DB-9, DB-25, etc. etc. You can pick those up at any radio shack or wherever, but pretty much the only place you can find a SNES terminator for instance.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Jaguar's interface was some old or outdated standard port, if you could find it then you could make an RGB cable pretty easily for it.
