This tutorial shows you how to overclock your PSone from 33.86 MHz to 40 MHz.

Not the biggest jump in the world but according to the author its enough to make a noticeable difference in performance without having to add a zillion fans to the unit.

Anyone tried this before and can report the difference?

Yes. I've overclocked many a Playstation. In fact I discovered how to do it!

nice one, how much of a difference does it really make? for example there is a huge difference in loading times and framerates on the psp between 222 and 333, given that the increase on the psone isn't as large how is the overall effect?

also, any tips for lifting that nano sized cpu pin?

It makes a pretty good difference in some of the games I tested (i'm not a big Playstation fan). I did try overclocking a PSOne to 67 MHz, but it was not very stable. Loading times were decreased *slightly* since most of that resides on available memory and drive speed, respectively.

As far as lifting that pin, it sucks. It has to be one of the most fragile i've dealt with and will break with extreme ease! My advice, use an X-acto knife to lift it while your soldering iron is touching the base of the pin.
