this is weird...

i got a seperate video cable (s-video), for my C64, and noticed something odd..

it's luminance line, is also composite video...  so, while it works on my C64 monitors Seperate Video port on the back, it ALSO works on my VCRs front Composite video input...

how?  i thought the C64 had a dedicated "Y" output...

AFAIK the original c64 had a 5 pin din which had (among other things) video out (composite) and luminance out ('Y' I think).  The C64C, C128 and newer revisions of the older style 64 have a 8 pin din with the pin 8 being the chrominance output.

C64 / C128 AV port on the HW book

If you can, test to see which pins on the din plug are connected to the other end of the cable and match yor results up to that page.
