saturn pad on ps2 possible?

anyway, i was wondering if one of you guys know of a way to connect a saturn pad to a ps2. would i have to solder my own, in the same way as the saturn2usb?
if there was room for being picky id prefer of course creating some converter device -saturn2ps2. that would rock cause i would still be able to connect my satpad to other converters (pc magicbox or any dreamcast conv.). on top of that, the only satpad i have left is made out of all the leetest parts of all the satpads ive ever owned. its my ultimate fighter pad. id hate to risk buying another satpad that doesnt suit my tastes, cant always return it to da store uc.

Yeah dude, you do the samething as the usb mod. Take the Chip out of a Playstation 2 pad and wire it to the buttons on the saturn pad.

OR, you said you want a converter for multiple consoles???
You could take that chip, put it in a little project box. Wire all the buttons to a DB15 (or 25 if needed) connector that could connect to the box with the ps2 chip in it. You could then make another box with the old saturn chip still in it. You could make another one with dreamcast or xbox, whatever your heart desires.

Is there a problem with this? Yeah, all those connectors and boxes are gonna add up, especially if all you have in your area is a radio shack.

to put it in another way, i think what i really need is a little box that connects to a ps2 and has a slot for saturn devices. it would probably take a ps2 pad without casing (i think that would be reff'd to as the chip/pcb) wired to a saturn slot/hole/female. the chip most prolly wont just fit into a hollowed-out satpad, and also for this reason do i wanna go and try make a box instead.
the only thing i still need to secure is a saturn type slot/hole/fem, which i havent searched for yet, but suggestions are welcome. (plus i need to look into having wood/plastic sawed and carved out in the right dimensions).
i wonder if the wiring part of this project box is gonna be hard? i havent really did this before, maybe you would know if connections are either too small or doable for a beginner?

Yeah the connections that are gonna be on that chip are small.

You could go ahead and stick that chip in the saturn pad. Dont hollow it out! The chip isnt the big brown thing inside!!! No no no, that is what we call the PCB or Circuit Board. The chip is the little black thing that is on the PCB most likely labeled U2 or U(Something). You will hear a lot of people refer to it as an IC.

Basically find the buttons on your saturns PCB. There are lines that connect to each button that you can trace all the way back to the chip.

Thats what your chip should look like. Now, I have never seen the inside of a ps2 pad, so i dont know how many pins the Chip will have on it, and those number may or may not be present. If you dont see that, and all you see is a little black blob, then you are screwed and your controller is not moddable.

Now anyways, you should be able to trace the lines for each button back to that chip. Make note of which pin it connects to on the chip (those numbers sure help), and also make note of anything else it hits on the way. (Capacitors [c23] etc.)

There should be a common line that hits every button, make note of what pin that is as well. You should also look at a pinout on Gamesx.com to figure out which pin on the ps2 connector is what, and trace that all the way back to the chip as well. Make notes and then your all ready to remove the chip. Do you know how to desolder? I dont have time to teach you so perhaps you can carefully snip it? So remove it, and then bring it over to the saturn controller.

You need to do everything you did on the ps2 controller for the saturn controller, make notes of all the pins and remove its own chip. Now you solder wires of the pins on the ps2 chip and solder them onto the saturn pcb, (saturn buttons to the ps2 chip pin for buttons, same with dpad, same with power, ground etc.).

well i appreciate you helping out, you dont need to teach me how to solder, cause id let someone else do that anyway. i think im gonna try this chip switching instead of tryna make a converter box, it wouldnt be a problem after all if my satpad did have a ps2 cable hanging off. thx for the help tho. as soon as questions rise ill know where to ask em. thx a lot
