Does the PAL version of Forgotten Worlds have some sort of region protection on it or the like?? As i have played the game on an unmodded Megadrive and the game plays fine, but on my modded megadrive the game starts up, i select start game, the intro comes on, but as the game is about to start it just jumps straight to the Game over screen! Anybody know why this is?

The game will not start for the same reason as on the Sega Nomad...Try holding down the mode button and turning on the system...fool around with the buttons and youll get it to work.  I think its a problem concerning the 3-6 button set up and region conflict.

hi

i know the problem
you cannot play forgotten worlds with a 6button joypad.only with an old 3 button joypad

Guest is correct, as it happens Forgotten Worlds is one of the few games that does not work properly with a 6-button pad even when using mode button. What's happening is a wack firing of all the buttons at a high rate of speed, the game just doesn't know how to understand the extra buttons that are there and it must be polling it before the mode switch button is activated. Once the game starts, your buttons all fire very quickly, and your megaflash fires several times a second til it depletes your life and it's game over. The only way to play is with the old pad.

Thats not true.  I have managed to play the game fully on my Sega Nomad by messing around with the start and mode buttons.  Just try it, youll see it works.

Perhaps if you were more forthcoming with the details...  ;)

I thought that explained enough.  Basically I just held start+mode while turning on the system and tapped start a couple times while the game was starting up.  if you mess around with the mode idea it works...hrmm maybe ill go do it again right now and find out EXACTLY how it works...

okay, i figured it out exactly.  I put the game in and held down the mode button before i started my Nomad.  I held the button ALL THE WAY until the game started, then I let go and it ran perfectly.  You just have to be able to hold the mode button and press start at the same time.  Thats all there is to it.

Note: my Nomad is modded to switch between 50 and 60 hz when the mode button is pressed.  Might have something to do with getting forgotten worlds running.  I just used the mod here on GameSX.
