PolyPhon Board

So I won a cheap Polyphon board on YAJ with a Expert system and I've been reading up on it (what little information there is) and I've heard that it has trouble playing MIDI in games? I did some searching around in Japanese and I found that there could possibly be a patch for this? Anyone have any information on this/have one of these?

Thanks! From what I'm reading, only the MPU needs a SRAM driver...am I correct?
