Epoch Super Cassette Vision Controller Issue

Hi.
After about six month without playing my Super Cassette Vision, i decided to play it a bit last night. But for some reason, now non of the 2 controllers will work when pressing down, or left or the second fire button. At first i tought that control number one had gone bad, but then i tried controller 2, and it has the exact same issue. Now, it would be too big a coincidence that both broke down at the same time, right?
What could be happening?
