here is a wild guess maybe the High Definition AV Packfor xbox  is really the first real 480i rgb to component trancoder.  http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/209496.asp

look at the size of it. this is how you xbox displays component video. below is a link to a web site that
shows the pin out of the xbox video port.

if you look the xbox only outputs rgb and a composite sync signal.  this really makes me think the High Definition AV Pack  converts the rgb to component.
so why couldnt you just hook up your own rgb to it on the one side. this may work?

Or not.  As I think I recall seeing, quite possibly on gamesx, there is a mode jumper or something that sets it between component and rgb.

Feeling Scared? ^_~

About as well as using a Dreamcast VGA box to upscan RGB to VGA, or even converting composite video to VGA.  <_<

Scared0o0Rabbit is right, the X-Box has a Component mode. The pinout changes based on the jumper selection (inside the cable end)

No.

Tom got it right. When certain pins are tapped at the cable, instead of certain others, RGB becomes component from the same pins.
